Here’s all we know about the PC version of Final Fantasy VII Remake, including whether or not it’ll be available on Steam.
The PS4 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake was released on April 10th, and we know for a fact that it will be a year-long exclusive on Sony’s platform.
While Square Enix has yet to announce a PC version of the Final Fantasy VII Remake, it is conceivable that it could be on Steam at some point in the future.
A series of data breaches in January discovered features in the code of a then-leaked Final Fantasy VII Remake demo that hinted to a PC version.
It’s also worth noting that Final Fantasy XV was released on PC and Steam a year and a half after the game was released on consoles, demonstrating that Square Enix isn’t averse to extending the series’ games to new platforms.
Other Final Fantasy games have also found their way to PC and Steam, including the original Final Fantasy VII and its remastered edition.
A “Thank You” video released on the PlayStation YouTube account (and linked below) shows gameplay filmed on PC, which is the closest thing we have to official confirmation of the Final Fantasy VII Remake coming to Steam.
On February 13, co-director Motomu Toriyama was set to attend at the Final Fantasy VII Remake Orchestra World Tour event, promising an announcement about the game.
With the one-year PS4 exclusivity period over, a Reddit leak pointing to an Epic Games Store data tracker indicates that the PC version of Final Fantasy VII Remake is on its way.
Kingdom Hearts was also released on Epic’s shop earlier this year by Square Enix. If the FFVII Remake follows the similar path, another Epic exclusive may be on the way. It’s worth treating with a grain of salt until an official statement is made, as with all leaks. We’ll keep an eye out for any fresh information and update this page as soon as we find it.
